Water is found everywhere in 7 Days to Die but is it really water you can drink? No. Being the survival game it is, you may want to purify the water first if you want to survive like you are meant to. So here is how you can get water and also how to purify it in 7 Days to Die.

How To Find Water in 7 Days to Die

The most accessible way to get water is to simply head to a pond or a lake and hold the action/interaction key to drink the standing water. This will alleviate your thirst but has a high risk of giving you the Dysentery status effect. The correct way is to find Murky Water and then purify it.

How To Get Murky Water in 7 Days to Die

You can find Murky Water in things like Food Piles, Toilets, Coolers, Coffee Pots, etc. This is unfiltered and unpurified water that will recover 10 Thirst and give you a 15% increase in stamina recovery but on the other side, it will also negatively affect you by applying the Dysentery status on you. This will make your food and thirst bar decay faster than normal rates.

If you really do need to drink Murky Water and can’t purify it, make sure you take some Vitamins before drinking the water. If you already caught Dysentery, then you can cure it by having some good old Goldenrod Tea.

You can also fill your Water (thirst) bar by consuming other items that have water in them like Chicken Soup, Vegetables, and other food items. If you have Workstation level 2, you can also build a Dew collector that can passively collect water over time. It can also be upgraded later with Tools obtained from Traders.

Building a Dew Collector will require the following items:

    • Scrap Polymers x100
    • Short Iron Pipe x4
    • Duct Tape x4
    • Water Filter x1

Purifying water in 7 Days to Die is as simple as it is in real life, all you need to do is just boil it. Here is how you can do that:

    • Secure a Cooking Pot, these can be found in the kitchens of most houses.
    • Now build a Campfire at your base, this can be done through the Crafting menu under the Basics tab. It will require Small Stones x5.
    • Interact with the Campfire and open its menu.
    • Place the Cooking Pot in the Tools section on the top right.
    • Put fuel resources like Coal or Wood under the Fuel section.
    • Go to the Drink tab on the left side and select Water as the item to make.
    • Now select the “Cook” option. You will now be making purified and clean Water.

Remember that each Murky Water in your inventory will make x1 clean water through this process. It’s a good practice to collect as much Murky water as you can when you’re out and about so that you can have an abundance of clean water when you get back to your base.
