Enhancement mods are going to be the game changers for anyone who strives for the endgame content in Borderlands 4. This entire system is added to replace the Artifact system we had in the older Borderlands titles. Here is how the Enhancements work in Borderlands 4.
Enhancements Explained in Borderlands 4

Enhancement mods provide your gun with abilities and bonus stats to boost damage and help make the gun catered to a specific build. These mods will take up a slot. Each Enhancement Mods belong to a specific Manufacturer and comes with three components: Stat bonus, Bonus Ability, and Licensed-part enhancement.
- Stat Bonus– Boosts the stats effects for the guns.
- Licensed-part Enhancement: Adds an ability to the gun, if the gun and the mod are from the same Manufacturer.
- Bonus ability: Helps gain extra abilities, but it is very rare to acquire.
Note: The gears in the game are RNG; the rule also applies to the Enhancement Mods’ abilities and bonuses.
Basically, Enhancement Mods are a replacement for Artifacts in the previous Borderland entries, with the added nuance of the Licensed-part Enhancement.

Enhancement Mods for Licensed Parts

If you found an Enhancement Mod, then you need to look for a weapon that shares the same manufacturer as the mod. So, for example, A CoV Enhancement Mod will fit in perfectly with a CoV-licensed part in a weapon. The rule applies to all the Enhancement Mods in the game. The license parts are also tied to manufacturers; they must be used with the weapon from the same manufacturer to get new abilities.
For example, if you use Ripper (Licensed part) Enhancement Mod for Ripper-based weapons, then the gun will gain access to High Roller enhancement, which raises damage by 2% for every shot that gets fired from the gun, and it stacks up to 25 times. As you can tell, these changes impact the endgame.
Note: You must be at Level 15 to see the Enhancement Mods dropping in the game.
You will also find weapons with more than one licensed weapon part in them, so here you can take the benefit of Enhancement Mods in Borderlands 4.
