You will encounter many status effects when you are in combat against different breeds of enemies in Fretless: The Wrath of Riffson. All the status effects in the game are color-coded with symbols in the color. You must notice the color to see the effects the enemies are applying to your character or vice versa. Here is a brief guide to detail all the status effects you will encounter in the game.

All Status Effect Details in Fretless

    • Purple icon: Delay: Take damage based on the FX level. It’s pretty rare to see Delay inflicted on your character; out of all the status effects, this one can be overlooked.
    • Yellow Icon: Compression: Inflicting Compression on an enemy will make them take more damage. There are many riffs in the game that allow you to inflict a Compression Status effect on enemies.
    • Red Icon: Echo: Adding Echo on the enemy makes them lose HP after every turn. By far, the most damaging status effect in the game. The second area of the game is filled with enemies that will inflict the Echo status effect; in every turn, you will lose over 10 HP. You also have instruments such as Acoustic that will help you apply Echo on enemies and various riffs that can amplify the Echo damage.
    • Cyan Icon: Feedback: Inflicting Feedback will deal damage back to the attackers. Think of Feedback as an auto-counter; whenever an enemy deals damage to your character, a small portion of the damage will get reflected back to the enemy. This will come in very handy when you are dealing with enemies that can block most of your attacks. Here, having Feedback is the best way to defeat these special enemies.
    • Blue Icon: Filter: Inflicting Filter on yourself will allow you to generate shields at the end of a turn. Various riffs in the game allow you to generate Shield or Filter upon dealing damage or taking hits, or at the start of a turn. It can be a great deal against bosses, as a shield will block out the attack.
    • Green Icon: Gain: You will receive a boost to your attack damage when you receive the Gain status effect. You will also find riffs that use the Gain status effect to recover more HP than usual.

How to Remove Negative Status Effects on Your Character?

The only way to get rid of any status effects on your character is by using a Cure Potion. The potion can be found in many treasure boxes in the game. But if you have enough Notes or Currency in the game, you can buy a Cure Potion from the potion shop for 600 Notes. These potions are very expensive compared to your average Health Potion, which only requires 50 Notes. We recommend you to get a good amount of Cure Potion but only use it in drastic situations, especially in boss fights. Common fights can be continued without too much hassle, but when you are in the middle of a boss fight, you don’t want to take any unnecessary risks.
